1. Please run in single file
Due to the narrow roads over Dartmoor please run on the left hand side of the road at all times in single file (whenever possible) unless directed otherwise by a marshal.
At approxamitley 1¼ miles from the start, approaching Two Bridges, a marshal will direct runners to the right hand side of the road. After ¼ mile past Two Bridges runners will be directed back onto the left hand side of the road. This is in order to avoid the two major roads joining the course from the left, at Two Bridges.
2. Cattle grids
There are 13 cattle grids to negotiate, and there will be a marshal at each one. The side gates will be open for you to run through. Please for your own safety, don't try and attempt to run over the gids.
3. MP3 Players
Due to the narrowness of many of the lanes on the course, the wearing of MP3 players or similar devices is strictly forbidden. Please be sensible and adhere to this. We don't want to disqualify you if you ignore our request. It is for your own safety.

5. Traffic free sections
There are two particular sections of the course where we would ask spectators/supporters to avoid driving through; The busy town of Ashburton and the narrow lanes near Widecombe. Below are instructions and maps for both sections.
Widecombe
The road to Widecombe-in-the-Moor from Stone Cross Junction (17.5M) is very narrow and steep in places and there have been some near-accidents involving runners and race-related traffic. To avoid this danger, the road to Pudsham Down and Widecombe-in-the-Moor from Stone Cross junction is closed to all supporters and back-up teams. They must turn left at Stone Cross junction and re-join the race route at Church Lane Head junction and Eastern Lane junction. See the plan above for the route supporters need to take. There will be marshals stationed at Stone Cross, Church Lane Head and Eastern Lane junctions to assist.
Ashburton
Follow race route as normal for 11.3 miles until Lent Hill Junction, which is half a mile past Holne Bridge, is reached. There is a marshal at Lent Hill, instructing runners to keep straight on for Ashburton. At Lent Hill, turn Left and proceed straight on past Adams Hele until Hele Cross is reached, just half mile from the Lent Hill turning. Turn left and in a quarter of a mile meet the Buckland road at Water Turn. Turn Left and follow the race route. Please be careful when you reach the main Buckland road as there will be runners on it, proceeding to Buckland in the Moor.
