Wokingham Wilf defies the heat

An intrepid trio shunned the delights of Plymouth on Sunday for the rescheduled 24th Wokingham Half Marathon. Berkshire was no cooler at the 10.00 start for Graeme Baker or the husband and wife team of Wilf and Eleanor Taylor. Originally planned for February, the event had been postponed due to heavy snow!
Undeterred by the heat on this occasion, Wilf set a cracking pace and crossed the line 182nd out of 1,062 finishers in a very commendable time of 1:33:03. Graeme was next Trotter home in 1:49:39, followed by Eleanor (1:52:03).
On the same day, Mark Wotton, in his search for out of the way events, travelled to Burton on Trent for the 10 mile road race. Organised by the long established Burton AC, the mainly flat two lap course is run past the River Trent and through the Washlands area of the town.
Mark certainly did not `Go for a Burton` as he was 84th in a field of 225 finishers with a personal best time of 1:16:33.
