RUN FOREST RUN with Hills and Music too!

RUN FOREST RUN ...hills and music too!

On Sunday 26th September, in the beautiful New Forest, David Tomlin and Sharon Bowman ran the 28th Annual New Forest Marathon flying the royal blue of the Teignbridge Trotters. This is classed as a multi terrain marathon as just less than 4 miles was off road forest tracks. The weather was dry and fairly warm but a head wind was a challenge in places.496 runners took part. The course started and finishing in New Milton and took in some gentle inclines and peaceful scenery with the odd new forest pony poking its head out of the fern! David Tomlin enjoyed the conditions and surprised himself from being in 6th position at 21 miles to finishing 2nd overall and 2nd in his age category with a blistering time of 2.46.38.His partner Sharon Bowman came in later in 4.28.35 and 344th overall.

The same weekend and another marathon for Sally Ingledew, this time taking her to beautiful Pembrokeshire in Tenby to take part in the Wales marathon. This is a new marathon organised by Activity Wales along with a long course weekend of swimming, a sportive and the marathon on closed roads on the Sunday. The conditions were perfect and Sally clocked a creditable time of 4.23

Thomas Burman was running his way around London in the "Run the Beat" half marathon which started and finished in Millennium Park near North Greenwich .At certain miles along the way there was live music and pre -recorded tracks for the runners to listen to. This suited Tom very nicely as he knocked nearly 1 minute off his PB for a half marathon and did a terrific 1.28.38 placing him 150/10945 runners.

A bright clear day helped 8 trotters have fine runs at the Taunton 10km on Sunday 26th September .The start and finish was at the Blackbrook pavilion. The gently undulating circular course heads through residential Holway and into the picturesque villages of Stoke St Mary and Haydon.

591 runners completed the route with Daryl Milford charging in with a time of 37 minutes and gaining him 20th place .James Henderson was next trotter over the line in 43.25 and then Mark Wotton 45.43.Other Trotters racing where Richard Clarke 46.13,Craig Churchill 48.29,Sarah Schutte 49.22,Marsha Garrard 51.09 and close behind her was Mary Goulden in 51.39
