Salisbury 54321 10K becomes a Trotter 123

On Sunday a group of all male Trotters took on the challenge of the Salisbury 10K. The race was the final part of a weekend away organised by Chairman Rog. The group of 17 had spent the previous day enjoying a round of golf and visiting the odd hostelry in Salisbury. An early night with plenty of pasta was called for as everyone was keen to be at their best for Sundays race.

The 10K was part of a series of races being held, covering distances of 10K, 20K, 30K, marathon and ultra marathon. The Trotters had unfortunately left it to late to enter the marathon, so had to make do with the 10K. The 10K route certainly didn't disappoint, it was mainly off road with some stunning views. The course was totally reliant on the use of signs to show runners the way, not sure it can do the race directors nervous system any good!

Thankfully all went smoothly once the siren sounded for the race begin. A pre arranged charge for the first corner by the Trotters must have looked quite a sight, as a mass of royal blue led the race. However after 200 yards the real athletes stamped their authority and forged to the front. Part of that bunch were are own trio of Tommo, Tarquin and Ian Langler (Lighthouse).

The three of them ran an amazing race and for the first time in the clubs history completed a fantastic feet by coming 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall. If that wasn't a big enough surprise, Tarquin turned the tables by beating Tommo for the first time, and in doing so won his first ever race. Further down the field there were some notable performances; Mark Wotton (Wurzel) ran an excellent 48:47 and Pete Aston (Pistol) recorded 49:09. But the biggest cheer of the day was saved for Alistair Lee (Big Al) who completed his first race for over 3 years. During those 3 years he had run twice, once for 20 minutes and then again for 32 minutes! However in true Trotter spirit he managed a commendable time of 71:06.

The full list of Trotter finishing times is a s follows; Tarquin 36:55, Tommo 38:18, Ian Langler 39:56, Steve Barker 43:18, Stewart Dunn 46:28, Monkey 47:45, Mark Wotton 48:47, Rog Hayes 48:56, Gary Watson 49:00, Pete Aston 49:09, John Skinner 50:48, Nathan Elphick 51:12, Phil Perry 51:59, Chris Wride 52:07, John Tweedie 52:08, Dave Dunn 53:51, Alistair Lee 71:06
