A win for Adam against the "big boys".......................

Lone trotter Graham Penn ran the `Beat the Bus` in Otterton on Wednesday 27th June. It was an evening race and the idea was to leave the village at the same time as the number 157 bus to Sidmouth and attempt to get there and back before its return within 55 minutes.

The route was very challenging, almost totally off road and very muddy with some deep puddles.
There was also a rather eerie mist throughout the event. He managed to beat the 157 in a time of 54:20 and was 47th out of 88 finishers.

Adam Caunter and Helen Anthony travelled on Sunday 1st July to compete in the "Crewkerne Short Course Triathlon."
Now, over the past couple of years Adam has usually won his Junior Category on most occasions, and won the odd Aquathlon here and there (swim / run), but since competing more recently as a senior against the big boys he has done well to achieve some 4th, 5th & 6th positions, well on Sunday he was 1st! His combined individual positions, and ability to be consistent across all 3 disciplines, 4th in the swim, 6th on the bike and 2nd in the run enabled him to win overall by 1 minute 20 seconds in a time of 35.23, quite a margin considering the shorter nature of the event.
Helen Anthony, who competing in only her second triathlon finished second in her age category and 4th lady overall in a time of 43.54. Well done to Helen, who I’m sure has a lot more to come.

Mark Wotton popped over to America to run a 10km in New York called the “Queens 10km”.The race took place in Corona Park next to Flushing Meadows and was organised by the New York Road Runners. The race started at 8 am in blistering heat of 84 degrees with a field of nearly 5442 finishers. There were 8 water stations and medical aid around the course and great support from start to finish. Mark didn’t arrive there until 8pm on the Saturday evening so did really well to complete in a time of 49.48 and 885th.
