Mud and sun is the order of the weekend....

On Sunday 15th October a bus load of trotters went down to Redruth for the "Westward league cross country" . It was a sunny but chilly day and the course was rather soggy and slippery. It was ran from Redruth School and consisted of 3 different levels of fields with the ladies  doing three laps and the men five. Each measured just less than one mile.
The ladies kicked off at 12.30 with Helen Anthony coming in in 22.28.Following behind her was Sharon Bowman in 24.22 and close behind her was Sarah Shutte in 24.51.El Taylor completed in 28.04 and Lucy Payne was close behind her in 28.27.66 women completed the course.

The Men went off at 1.30pm with David Tomlin in his first running race since injury did 31.06.Gary Clark was next trotter home in 35.44 with Alan Boone chasing him in 36.46.Wilf Taylor completed in 37.23, John Crocker in 38.04 and Graham Baker did 44.38.Keith Anderson put in a strong race in 45.47 with Rod Payne following him in with 46.27.Guy Roberts completed the in 47.04 with 119 men completing the course.

Peter and Angie Blakesley went up to Swindon to complete the “Swindon half marathon”. It was a fantastically organized race with plenty of sun and hills and over 2000 runners which was their highest ever turnout. Peter ran a 1.48 and Angie got a PB showing all her hard work is paying off with a brilliant sub 2 hour 1.58.

Up in Wales in the capital of Cardiff, the George family, Dad Keith, mum Becky and Daughters Katy and Ellie completed the “Cardiff Half Marathon”. Starting by the  historic Cardiff Castle, runners pass Cardiff City stadium to the picturesque Penarth Marina and the scenic barrage.

Running through the iconic Cardiff Bay, you pass the Doctor Who Experience and Norwegian Church. The course then takes in the beautiful Roath Park Lake, before a big finish back in the heart of the city at the impressive Civic Centre. It had 13,000 runners in the event.

Keith ,Becky and Katy came across the line in 1.49.56, 1.49.56 and 1.49.57 respectively with Ellie completing in 2.06.51.Michelle Willocks Watts ran a time of 1.56.38 and newbie Nikki Quant did 2.17.11.

On Saturday 14th October Craig Churchill ran the “ killerton park run”. It was too muddy and slippy for a PB but he came 8th out of 81 in 21.01 for the 5km .
