Sun shines for first race of the "Run exe Summer 5km" series

The sun shone on the first round of the “Run Exe Summer 5km” series on Wednesday 6th June and the flat traffic free course enticed 73 runners to compete in it. It took place at the “Flowerpot” end of Exeter Haven Banks canal and is organised by Iron Bridge Runner Events. Nine Teignbridge trotters took it up and posted some really good times which they will be trying to improve in future rounds.

In 14th place with a time of 18.50 was Geoff Davey having only race on Bank holiday Monday.Peter Royle was next in 21.39 and 36th .Neil Pallant fresh from Plymouth half on the Sunday did 21.50 and 37th while Craig Churchill chased him down in 38th with 21.59.Peter Kirby still full of beans from Edinburgh marathon completed in 22.18 and 41st.Joanne Haynes did 23.38 and was 49th in her first run in her new veteran class since turning 40 a few weeks ago. Tina Caunter seemed to vanish from the results but did 25.38 and was 58th. Sarah Seymour raced really hard and got a personal best by over 3 minutes with 26.09 and 63rd place. Finishing the team up was Glenn Jarvis in 69th place and 69th.
