No Fools at the Easter Bunny 10km ............

On Easter Bank Holiday Monday 1st April, Yeovil Town Road Running Club staged their annual ‘Easter Bunny 10k’.
Starting and finishing on the RNAS Yeovilton Military Base in Yeovil, the fast flat course enticed 25 Teignbridge Trotters to brave the biting winds and cold conditions amongst the 387 finishers.


David Tomlin was not phased by this and ran fantastically into 8th place to pick up another first Vet 40 award in a time of 34.24 while Daryl ‘Tarquin’ Milford ran strongly to be placed 14th in a time of 35.38 with Adam Caunter giving chase on a break back from University in 21st place in 36.45. Gary Clark broke his pb by 30 seconds with his time of 39.18 placed 48th whilst Travis Wood did 40.52 80th.


Helen Anthony brought the ladies home in a superb pb time of 42.25 and was 102nd closely followed by Rob Cowling with another pb 42.44 106th whilst Mark Becker was 43.26 116th.
Jackie Woon was next and 2nd Vet 45 in 44.10 129th with Gary Caunter 44.24 134th. Next across the line was a quartet of Trotters, Noel Fowler 47.10 164th, Jimmy Donovan 47.12 167th, Sharon Bowman 47.14 168th and Guy Roberts 47.49 173rd. Sally Ingledew after doing 4.23 at Milton Keynes Marathon on Good Friday produced 50.42 217th, Graeme Baker picked up first Vet 70 51.47 231st, Jo Becker did a 52.03 pb 237th, Sarah Seymour was another pb 52.10 239th followed by yet another pb by Kirsty Bowman 52.44 248th.

Tina Caunter pulled another club record out the bag, even though running with a heavy cold in 52.55 252nd knocking 6 seconds off Pauline Newsholme’s previous time from 1996 and picking up 2nd Vet 55 in the process. Next came Beverley Dennis in 53.44 pb 259th, Jo Billyard 55.33 pb 277th, Kevin Besford 55.37 278th, Catherine Barnes 56.52 291st and Nicky Cowling in only her second race as a Trotter came in 59.38 pb 326th.


Matthew Dunn who is studying at Kingston-upon-Thames took part in the "Richmond Half Marathon" and completed the scenic London course which passes Kew Gardens, Richmond Bridge and Ham House in a personal best time of 1.43.15 finishing 348th out of 1340 competitors.

Lone Trotter Craig Churchill ran the "Bampton to Tiverton"race and was 30th out of 99 in 48:41.
