Zippy and Tarquin collect prizes after the final round of the " Run Exe Summer 5km" series.....

Tuesday 3rd September on another warm and muggy evening, the fifth and final running of the “run Exe summer 5km series” for this year took place at the Flower pots playing fields by Exeter canal.


Daryl “Tarquin” Milford brought the trotters home in 16.50 and 5th place out of 73 runners which also gave him first male overall and first vet 40 winner from this year’s series and it was also his fastest round. Garry Smart was next in 17.11 and 8th.Craig Churchill (19.59)31st consistently running sub 20 minutes in all rounds he ran, Helen Anthony fresh from her holiday was 34th (20.18) and third women overall in the series. Mark Becker (20.30)36th, Sarah Schutte (22.21)57th, Joanne Becker (25.56)70th and Glenn Jarvis (28.50)71st also ran.

The 'Winter 3k Series' dates have also been announced and will take place at the Exeter Athletics Track during October and November (3 races) and all will be championship races.Keep an eye out on our trotter web site and Face book for info ---ROUND ONE: Monday 28th October 2013 ROUND TWO: Monday 11th November 2013 ROUND THREE: Monday 25th November 2013

Lone trotter Mark Wotton took on the tough "SLAMM marathon "(Somerset Levels and Moors marathon) on Saturday 7th September. The race starts at Bowden’s camp site in Langport and takes in 9 miles of road and fields and farm track although fairly flat it is made difficult with fields being rutted and 2 big hills in the last 5 miles .The weather was quite good although there were 2 heavy down pours in the second half .Only 58 took part in the full marathon but Mark produced a 4.45 time for the 26.2 miles.

 




The "Bridgewater half marathon" took place on Sunday 8th September on a flat fast course in aid of Cancer research. Graydon Widdicombe took part in it and although he was a bit disappointed with his run he completed the 13.1 miles in around 1 hour 49 minutes according to his watch. It started at Morganians Rugby club in Bridgewater and took the runners on an out and back course with a loop in it.Other trotters who ran were Sally Ingledew, Eleanor Taylor, Neil Burns and Peter Kirby.

The times were 49th Neil Burns 1.37.05,Peter Kirby 80th 1.43.00,Graydon Widdicombe 1.49.33 107th ,Eleanor Taylor 156th 1.57.36 and Sally Ingledew 2.03.14 171st.


On Sunday 15th September the annual running of the "ladies 10km" event will take place at Dornafield Caravan Park which is just off the A381 between Newton Abbot and Totnes. Entries will be taken on the day up to the race limit of 250.This is the only “women “only event locally so come on ladies come and join the fun and enjoy the fun.
