Trotters descend on Swimbridge for the annual Club Trip...

The legendary Trotters Club Trip this year took place at Swimbridge 10K, on Sunday 18th May.  A bus was organised and several Trotters and family/friends made the trip to Swimbridge to take part in the event with 30 Trotters competing.  The race was ran on a tough offroad course in hot conditions. Eyvoll Aston ran very well to finish first lady and first FV40. This was also Nikki Keightley’s first 10K event at the Club Trip, and the Trotters enjoyed some liquid refreshment and food at a pub after the event before making the journey back home on the bus.

Full results are:
Roger Hayes (7, 43:35), Gary Clark (16, 48:39), Michael Mooney (17, 48:52), Eyvoll Aston (18, 49:39), John Tweedie (20, 49:58), Tom Besford (28, 51:18), Ian Langler (32, 51:57), Stuart Moulson (36, 52:15), Derek Skinner (46, 53:44), Alan Boon (47, 54:22), Garry Watson (49, 54:36), Adrian Handley (52, 55:07), Pete Hayward (61, 56:07), Hannah Jones (62, 56:11), John Webber (71, 58:30), Rod Payne (77, 59:15), Noel Fowler (85, 1:00:47), Dave Dunn (86, 1:01:12), Kevin Besford (105, 1:04:59), Tamsin Cook (106, 1:05:01), Nigel Barnett (107, 1:05:12), Eleanor Taylor (110, 1:05:38), Katrina Zaple (111, 1:05:52), Emma Pearcy (112, 1:05:57), Tina Caunter (119, 1:06:56), Cathleen Pilton (121, 1:07:12), Beverley Dennis (127, 1:09:13), Jackie Burns (145, 1:16:29), Nikki Keightley (153, 1:24:40) and Stephen Morfey (154, 1:24:41)

Sally Ingledew and Lance Mason completed in the Imerys Trail Marathon on 18th May. This is a tough course taking in part of Cornwall’s China Clay industry, which was run on a very hot day.   Lance finished 3rd overall (and 1st MV50) in a time of 3:21:37 whilst Sally was 2nd FV50 in a time of 4:47.

EDIT: Also running were Mark Wotton, Phil Perry, Smokes and Allen Taylor.  Allen was 32nd in 4.09.12, Smokes and Phil were 86th and 87th with 5.01.41 crossing the line together and Mark was 96th in 5.14.15.

On a really warm Sunday (18th May) some Trotters didn't make the Club Trip as they had entered Exe Valley Triathlon, which is organised by the very friendly Exeter Tri Club.  The event was a Sprint Tri and consisted of a pool swim of 400 meters (16 lengths) in Tiverton Pool followed by an undulating bike ride of 25 km on an out and back course. The final leg was a rather hilly 5km run.

Tracy Elphick managed a combined time of 1:19:44 (2nd FV40) and Helen Anthony completed in 1:16:37 (2nd F19-39).  Both had completed this event before and managed course bests on the day.   Also, Russ Wheeler had a good event with a time of 1:10:48.

Taking on their first triathlons were Sharon Bowman (1:25:34), Mandy Wheeler (1:26:21), Neil Pallant (1:32:04), Sarah Seymour (1:32:55) and Keith Anderson (1:33:35), so well done to them.

On Saturday 10th May, Eleanor Taylor completed the Loch Leven Half Marathon.    The event is in central Scotland, between Perth and Edinburgh, and was run on a very pretty and scenic route around the Loch, with only one moderate hill at around the 8-mile mark. Additionally, the runners were treated to four pipe bands at the start of the race and there was also a pipe band competition at the finish to entertain spectators while they were waiting for the runners. Eleanor completed the event in 1:52:18.
