Trotters run hard day (and night) to scoop silverware and complete more miles.

Team Teignbridge gave themselves a little something for the weekend when they did the quadruple and scooped four trophies at the Erme Valley Relays, Ivybridge.

A formidable turn-out ensured the relays, held annually by Erme Valley Harriers, was turned into a sea of Royal Blue with 18 teams rocking up to compete and complete the eyeballs out 2.5-mile undulating loop.

There were many notable and formidable individual performances so well done to everyone who made the effort and contributed to what was a great evening of relay racing and socialising. Big thanks, of course, to our captains Zippy and Skippy (Helen Anthony and Lance Mason) who mustered, hustled, encouraged and organised.

*Six Trotters descended on a small corner of Devon to take part in a 9.5-mile off-road race called the Revelstoke Run. It starts beside St Peter’s Church in the pretty Yealm Estuary village of Moss Mayo and finishes in the beer garden of The Ship Inn. In between it takes in the awesome - there really is no other word for it - coastal landscape with panoramic views of Hope Cove, Burgh Island, Mewstone Rock, Wembury Bay and Rame Head near Plymouth.

Jim Donovan led the contingent home clocking 1.20.47. Katrina Zaple and Ruth Johnson posted 1.42 and Sally Ingledew, Lance Mason and Emma Pearcy finished in 1.42.05.

*Just around the corner in Yelverton, a trio of Trotters completed the 6 Moor Miles race, a beautiful one-lap route around the Maristow estate and open moorland. Adam Johnstone was seventh overall in 42.19, Wilf Taylor 47th in 50.29 and Eleanor Taylor was 143rd in 1:02.32. There were 234 finishers.

*Mark ‘Wurzel’ Wotton is on a roll. He ticked another marathon off his list, completing the Dartford Midnight Marathon in 5hours 20secs. This 26.2-mile race takes place at Dartford Bridge Science Park in Kent. It’s nine laps on pavements and gravel tracks. An 8pm start gave runners some respite from the summer sun but it was still a hot night, says Mark. He finished 90th out of 103 runners.
