Races for the 2020 Club Championship

Coronavirus update:

In light of Government guidelines and the ever changing situation, your committee took the decision to cancel 2020's Club Championship.

This decision was taken to protect the health of our members and to restrict the spread of the virus.

All being well, a different competition will be held on the Sandgate Loop course in July, August and September and details will be available here.

The races for the 2020 edition of the Club Championship are now available!

We really hope that the competition is another great success, as there is good mix of old favourites together with new races.

The rules for 2020 are staying the same as for 2019.  In summary:

- there are 5 race categories, with each category containing 4 races (so there are 20 races to choose from throughout the year).

- a runner has to complete at least one race in each category.

- additionally, a runner has to complete at least 8 races.  If a runner completes more than 8 races (and has done at least one race in each category) the best scoring races will count.

The Trotters Race Diary will be updated to show the races that are in the Club Championships and when entry information is available, it will be added there.

Important Note:

In 2019’s Championship, a few members needed the final race of the year – Bicton Blister – to successfully complete the competition.  Races had been cancelled in previous weekends due to bad weather, and thoughts turned to what would have happened if Bicton Blister itself had been cancelled.  If that had happened, there wouldn’t have been enough time to stage a replacement race so those members wouldn’t then have had the required number of races and/or categories to complete the competition.  I’m only mentioning this as something to bear in mind when you’re planning your campaigns; if possible, try and get a spare race or two under your belt, just in case of a late cancellation out of our control.

Now is the time to get planning your campaigns for the 2020 Club Champs....good luck, everyone.
