A dozen Teignbridge Trotters enjoyed some intermittent sunshine on Sunday (7/9), as they turned out in north Devon for the Bideford 10. The event provided a fine day's racing for the club, with several members picking up silverware.

Roger Hayes led the Royal Blues home, finishing 11th out of 169 participants with a time of 1.02.03. Stewart Dunn was the next Trotter to cross the line, in 1.10.27. Tracy Elphick charged round the course in 1.13.10, leading the Teignbridge ladies home and securing a well-earned 1st place in the FV35 category.

Tina Caunter (1.24.34) produced an excellent performance to take 2nd place in the FV50 category, while husband John Caunter (1.15.07) also got in on the action with a 3rd in the MV50 battle. Graeme Baker added to the list of Royal Blue placings, finishing 3rd in the MV65 category with a time of 1.19.39 - a fine performance after several months that have been affected by injury. Stephen Wallace also contributed to the party, his 1.26.07 gaining him 3rd spot in the MV55 category. Sharon Bowman (1.21.58) completed the haul by scooping up 3rd prize in the FV40 category.

New member James Henderson opened his account at Teignbridge with a brisk 1.14.49 that promises much for the future and Matthew Dunn set a new Junior Male club record at 10 miles with his time of 1.24.15.

Also running were Dave Dunn (1.21.01) and Steve Rawlinson (1.28.02).

The main Trotter action may have been in north Devon on Sunday but Mark Wotton decided to explore what Staffordshire had to offer its running fraternity. He took on the Lichfield 10K, completing the undulating course in a creditable 47.27, finishing 204th out of a field of more than 750. The rain stayed away, making for pleasant running conditions.

Last Thursday (4/9) Syd Willocks ran the third and final race of the Run Exe Summer 5K Series. His time of 22.57 earned him third place in the Series M65 category and represented a welcome return to competitive running after a struggle with form earlier in the year.
