Easter Bunny Bonanza for the Trotters!

A bonanza weekend for Teignbridge Trotters started on Friday with five chipper Royal Blues making their way to Kilmington for the Kilmington Kanter, a pleasant multi-terrain race of 7 miles including two challenging hills, 10 stiles and a run through Kilmington Woods. Ryan Anthony, Lance Mason, Sally Ingledew, Jim Donovan and Emma Pearcy took part in the race, run in almost perfect sunny conditions, and organised by Kilmington Primary school. Jimmy was 1st home just over the hour then Ryan, Lance and Sally in approx 1:09 and Emma in 1:12.

Ten Trotters participated in the Fast Friday 10k managed by City Runs events, Exeter. Kevin Woodard led the royal blues home in a time of 36.22 and Geoff Davey gained first place in the male vet 40 age category, in 37.05. Geoff was followed by Bruce Campbell in 44.31, Peter Blakesley in 47.21, Pete Hayward in 48.59, Jennie Roberts, first lady Trotter, in 51.45, Tina Caunter in 53.08, Sara Collman in 56.22, Jo Billyard in 59.42 and Angela Blakesley in 60.50.

Highlight of the Trotters’ weekend was the Easter Bunny 10k race, organised by Yeovil Town Road Running Club, which took place at RNAS Yeovilton, Somerset, and followed gently undulating lanes through the local villages of West Camel and Podimore. This is usually a course for fast times, but on this occasion the running proved challenging due to flooding and strong winds.
First Trotter home was Jamie Barnett, in a time of 36 min 37 sec and eighth place overall. Helen Anthony picked up the award for third lady in 39.56. Other Trotter results were Kevin Woodard 36:51, Allen Taylor 41.48, Julian Scanes 42.32, Jacki Woon 45.28, Mark Hutchins 45.38, Louise Gentry 45.41, Nigel Barnett 46.36, Keith Anderson 47.56, Peter Hayward 48.08, Joanne Randall 49.32, Kathryn Steemson 49, Tina Caunter 52.57, Lance Mason, in full Easter Bunny costume, 52.58, Sally Ingledew 53.00, Eleanor Taylor 53.10, Kevin Besford 53.15 and Maggie Anderson 60.53.

Very much further afield, Trotter Leah Harper ran in the Two Oceans Half marathon in CapeTown, South Africa. Well done Leah!
