A large team of Trotters took part in the Torbay 10K, that took place on the evening of Sunday 20th August. There were first time races as a Trotter, a club record broken, course records, and PBs.

When the gun went off, conditions were quite cool with some misty rain in the air, but there was hardly any wind which meant running conditions were pretty good. The course takes runners from Torquay to Paignton, with two laps around the green, before the runners go back towards Torquay for the finish.

Roger Easterbrook finished in ninth position in a fabulous time of 37:32. Roger first took part in this race as an 11 year old back in 1985, when conditions were very windy and it was hailing, finishing it in 43:00.  Sunday’s race was his highest placing at this event, plus he won the V40 age category.

Jacki Woon broke her own V50 Club Record, by knocking about 40 seconds off with a great time 44:24, and first V50 at the event in what was a course PB for her. Tracy Elphick also picked up a prize, claiming first F45. Gary Watson ran well also, to claim second V60, as did Lucy Payne to win third F65.

There were also some team prizes with Tracy, Jacki and Hannah combining to win the first female team prize, with Roger, Christian and Graydon winning third men’s team prize.

New Trotter, AJ de Montjoie managed a 10K PB at this event, and was proud to wear Trotters colours for the first time. AJ came to the Trotters after running the club’s recent Totnes 10K and is really pleased to have joined the club..

Additionally, there were PBs for Laura Law, Christian Robinson and Hannah Jones (3rd F40), plus course PBs for Pete Hayward, Graydon Widdicombe, Tracy Elphick and Suzie Mills.

There were 580 finishers, and Trotter results were Roger Easterbrook (9, 0:37:32), Christian Robinson (45, 0:42:01), Graydon Widdicombe (56, 0:42:53), Tracy Elphick (63, 0:43:25), Gary Watson (69, 0:44:15), Jacki Woon (72, 0:44:24), Hannah Jones (76, 0:44:32), Craig Churchill (84, 0:44:55), Nigel Barnett (98, 0:45:37), James Saunders (105, 0:45:54), Pete Hayward (106, 0:45:56), Joanna Randall (122, 0:47:04), Sarah Pike (140, 0:48:00), Laura Law (266, 0:53:57), Eamon Crowe (271, 0:54:14), Mark Wotton (277, 0:54:35), Deb Hart (280, 0:54:46), Lucy Payne (300, 0:55:18), Eleanor Taylor (305, 0:55:25), Chris Wride (331, 0:56:36), Scott Green (375, 0:58:24), Aj De Montjoie (396, 0:59:16), Andy Distin (468, 1:03:19), Kay O’ Flaherty (484, 1:04:33) and Suzie Mills (502, 1:05:30).

Toby Hooper came 1st on Sunday in the under 17's 1500m Steeplechase at Exeter. Toby ran in the South West Intercounties Competition , where he achieved a new PB of 5:02 in what were atrocious conditions to compete in.

Richard Keatley did marathon number 69 on Sunday, at Bath Two Tunnels in Bath. The event was organised by Relish Running, and Richard thought it was a great event. It consisted of two 13.1-mile loops taking in the scenery of the canals, country lanes and a bit of the city. Weather conditions were humid and sunny then rain fell right at the end. There were wonderful marshals and great feed stations, and Richard finished in 5:13.

Four Trotters took part in the Christow and District Show 5K race, organised by Maverick Runners. The event was held in the heart of the Teign Valley, surrounded by beautiful scenery. There were 26 competitors, and Trotter results were: Geoff Davey (2, 21:55), Mark Wotton (20, 34:11), Lucy Payne (22, 37:05) and Rod Payne (26, 40:26).
