Teignbridge Trotters are a friendly Newton Abbot based running club, attracting members from all over South Devon and beyond. We cater for all abilities, whether you are an experienced runner or absolute beginner. We concentrate on mainly road and off road running, along with a Winter Cross Country league.
Training takes place from Dyrons Sports Centre, Wain Lane, Newton Abbot on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7.00pm. Monday's run is generally a 5-7 mile social/recovery run, with the emphasis on 'steady' rather than 'speed'.
Please note that the Monday session is not suitable for beginners, unlike a Wednesday.
Wednesday's training consists of 3 groups. The first being for beginners or runners coming back from a long-term injury. The second group alternate from one week to the next with a steady social run (5-7 miles) and a speed session. The third and final group do a speed session each week (the content of which varies greatly). During the year there are also many organised long social runs (8-20 miles) which take place on Sunday mornings.
We also organise a time trial, usually taking place on the second Wednesday of every other month. This is over a measured course of 1 and 2 miles and is open to all members.
All our groups are supervised by qualified coaches, many of whom have many years experience. We only cater for runners over the age of 16, as we don't have a junior section.
We organise 5 races during the year. They are the Teignbridge Ten, a relatively flat 10 mile run. The Haytor Heller, a tough off road run on Dartmoor. The Totnes 10K, a scenic off road race. The Ladies 10K, an undulating course run on country lanes. And finally the Templer Ten, a mixture of road and off road 10 mile run.
In addition to our running we are known for being a club with an excellent social scene. With numerous events organised through out the year.
