Trotters took part in the hilly scenic Drogo 10 by South West Road Runners near Okehampton. The long established fell race has near cult status and attracts a decent field of competitors ready to sample the autumn colours, forest trails, and undulations of the Teign valley with a total climb in the region of 1760 ft (535m).

Grip required with some slippery sections, twists and turns, and the final dreaded Hunters path before a flat last 600m into the finish.

Alex Sparks reported "Was absolutely brutal but I would do it again it was an amazing route. It was a high quality race today, which is good for me and I felt better than last week at Bideford and was holding onto 3rd all the way till the last hill and unfortunately there was nothing I could do as the eventual 3rd came racing past. I had nothing left for the last bit but held on for 4th in a watch time of 1:05:16. 3rd Senior Male.

Cheryl Dunn reported "The Drago 10mile what a truly beautiful but challenging trail run. The view at the top of the hills was lovely and the river way at the bottom of the hills with the sun shining though giving it that autumn feel. A run I look forward to doing again even with the brutal hill". Finishers included 76th Ewan Walton 1:22:30, 321 Paul Sharples 1:53:37, 396th Shaz Sharples 2:08:05, 416th Cheryl Dunn 2:14:51, 444th Teresa Holmes 2:34:18

Last week at the Club Championship penultimate race, the Cornish Marathon had 5 trotters taking part. It starts from Millenium House, a scenic circular out and back route which takes runners along the Draynes Valley, through the ‘Poldark’ country of Bodmin Moor, past King Arthur’s legendary Dozmary Pool, Du Maurier’s Jamaica Inn at Bolventor and back along the Fowey Valley, taking in a climb to Foredown between miles 24 and 25, which most runners will remember for a long time for the fabulous views !

Sue reported "It’s all on road, hilly at the beginning, flat in the middle, hilly at the end. Weather was perfect, dry, not too warm or too cold. Hoodie, medal, bag, route map picture, pasty & a cuppa all included! Our comrades finished in 42nd, Kris Ward 3:27:19, 172nd Jo Randall 4:22:53, 173rd Martin Randall 4:22:53, 283rd Sue Tremlett 5:11:38, 209th Ruth Johnson 5:13:36
