Glorious conditions at the Eden Half

The Eden Project Half Marathon - Sunday 18th October

Flying solo this year Shaz Sharples headed to Cornwall for the Eden Project Half Marathon on Sunday. Part of Cornwall's biggest running event, the race starts and finishes at the iconic Eden Project, taking runners on a challenging multi-terrain route through picturesque countryside, historic mining landscapes and winding trails, with a mixture of road, path and off-road sections.

The course certainly lived up to its reputation, serving up some tough climbs along the way before a memorable downhill finish back into the Eden Project, with the famous biomes providing a spectacular backdrop to the closing stages. Conditions were ideal, with perfect running weather helping competitors tackle the demanding route.

Organisation received high praise from Shaz, with regular water stations throughout the race and a friendly atmosphere from start to finish. Finishers were rewarded with a traditional Cornish pasty, a can of Tribute ale and a distinctive handcrafted wooden medal.

Crossing the line in 2:23:16, Shaz was delighted with her performance on a testing course, commenting: "I'll take that!" A fantastic effort on one of the South West's most scenic and challenging half marathons.
