The new look Forest Flyer hosted by The Haldon Trail Runners took place on Saturday 27th August. Starting at 18.00. Approximately 5 miles of forest tracks, paths and fire roads in the beautiful Haldon Forest Park, Exeter
The route is flat ish to start off with course, following forest paths and roads before descending then finally a long uphill ascent to the finish. Some run the full hill, others tactically walk part of it. The Race included twists and turns, enclosed and open sections making a nice variety to the course.
The latest Championship race attracted a good turnout of 24 runners. Post race comments included, Challenging course, easier than the Heller, and anything to escape from the children. Good spot disappearing for a call of nature.
James Long led the trotters home. Apparently James even had time for a little walk on the final hill.

There where 140 racer's....Well done all, great turn out.
Kingsbridge has had a long association with the Abbots of Buckfast, who were originally lords of the manor of Churchstow when Kingsbridge parish formed part of the manor. The then Abbot obtained the right to hold a weekly market in Kingsbridge in 1219, and later the Abbot John Matthew applied for a royal charter to hold an annual fair in the town. This was confirmed in 1461.Fairs used to be a much more important commercial event, when dues were collected by the landowners, debts were paid, and livestock was bought and sold, as well as the increased business for the town traders. The funfair element was a later addition, which continues to this day.
So on the 25th July strarting at 19.30 our two intrepid Trotters Roger Easterbrook and Claire Farrar took part in the annual Kingsbridge Fair 10K . A challenging evening race with five regular hills. The race route heads up the high street before heading east toward Slapton along quiet lanes. Competitors include visiting tourists some with serious speed, locals and fun runners.
Roger had a good battle for 5th place and was 1st male vet 50 in a time of 40.16. Claire Farrar was 95th in a time of 1.29.29. Both agreed it's a challenging course.
Roger said " The top 10 this year had many new faces, with local legend Jim Cole 36.15 triumphing, Rebecca Hillard 3rd place was 1st lady, visiting from Bergen Norway"
Well done you two on a very hard 10k.
