The 21st was a day of action everywhere, Torbay Half & 10K along the seafront of Paignton and Torquay. The Honiton Hippo, a 7 mile trail race with a few challenges, The Redrock mud race, and The Doone Run. Great to hear Trotters taking part and supporting across many local events.

The Club Championship race The Hippo is a mix of road and trail with wooded sections, muddy traps, and the infamous river crossing. The hardy trotters were up for it, with Helen Anthony taking 1st lady, Chloe Weeks 2nd lady, Roger Easterbrook 4th MV50 1st, and Neil Rutley MV60 1st . Full results to be published.

Kathryn Steemson summed it up well " Unlike a hippo, I can't hold my breath for five minutes or gallop at 30mph — but undeterred by these minor limitations, I decided to give the event a go. There were a few hills, plenty of mud, and a couple of swim sections thrown in for good measure. But the sun shone, the marshals cheered, and I made it back in one piece. I’d definitely recommend this slightly bonkers event!"

Sam reported "The Doone Run is a dramatic 10 mile multi-terrain race held in the heart of Exmoor National Park, organized by Ilfracombe Running Club, the event now in its 36th year. It promised steep climbs, rugged trails, breathtaking views from Watersmeet to the Valley of the Rocks. The race certainly lived up to its name with very steep climbs, slippery mud, equally steep descents and fantastic views which were glimsed when you could take your eyes off the path for a second without the risk of tumbling down the cliffs! No goats though. A thoroughly amazing run, well organised

The Torbay Half & 10K are local favourites, Trotters put in some great efforts and new vests were donned by some. Alex Sparks put in a great effort to take 3rd place 1:14:39, following on from last weeks 3rd. Mike Border got a P.B in 1:45:23, Lucy Evans in 1.50:23 had a season best and course P.B, Laura Law achieved a 2 min P.B in the 10K, 52:12,

Alex Lyons completed his 50th Half Marathon at 50, in a respectable time of 1:50:34, superb effort.

Lucy said "The headwind was brutal at times and the hills haven’t got any flatter, but the atmosphere was amazing. Such an inclusive event with fantastic support all around the course and really encouraging marshals. Big thanks to everyone."

Corinne Bright and Andrew Rutledge were mad enough for the River Teign mud fest at low tide from Coombe Cellars to the Red rock and back, great muddy fun.

Corinne was first female 40-59 category, and Andrew survived after the mornings Half Marathon. Top trotting!

Thanks to everyone who contributed, please make contact to join the team and help this keep going for 2026, when I am stepping down.
