Three Trotters take on the tough Dalwood three Hills Challenge
Back by popular demand: The Dalwood 3 Hills challenge. The much-anticipated return of the Dalwood 3 Hills, a 10 mile multi-terrain race around the beautiful and challenging hills of Dalwood. Located, between Axminster and Honiton . There was mud, river crossings and off course hills.... With the horrendous weather conditions recently the route had two diversions missing out the two river crossings.
Gavin Parrot was first trotters home (53,01:35:39) Rob Faulkner (121,02:03:22)
Allen Taylor (122,02:03:22) There where 167 finishers
Allen had a short quote. Toughest conditions I have ran in for quite a few years.
Gavin had a bit more to say. Yes after a break of 3 years the Dalwood 3 hills challenge was back. After a sustained wet period the course was all types of muddy! From slippery and squelchy to deep and unrelenting!
The volume of rain had caused the local river to flood meaning the usual route was altered but if anything the route was more tricky with an especially hazardous sheer ridge section included. Thankfully the race still concluded with the epic uphill of Danes Hill and the inevitably sticky decent back to the village and finishing line. Hard work for the 3 trotters that braved the course. but as always the reward was the epic views and a warm welcome from the local community.
Well done all
A weekend away in London and after there Bushy park run on Saturday Shaz and Paul on the Sunday took to the banks of the Thames for a marathon distance so write's Mr and Mrs Sharples. This can only be run by phoenix running. The epic medal based on the tintagel statue of King Arthur caught their eye.
Runners begin with the River Thames on their right hand side and run towards and under Walton Bridge. Navigation is about as easy as it can get – just follow the river! If you can’t see the river, then somehow you are lost. Retrace your steps until you can see the river and you are found.
At 2.65km, or 1.64 miles you will reach the turning point, which is past Walton Bridge at the far end of an area called Cowey Sale. The turn point is well signed with a large yellow sign on the left of the path telling you to ‘turn around’ – please go all the way to the turn point before turning back on each lap.
The weather was wet to start with but cleared up to blue skies. We ran together and finished in 5.29.48 They never get easier! There where 30 finishers
