Kevin Besford and Derek Blackford fly the Trotter flag...

Trotter Kevin Besford put in a great performance to complete Edinburgh Marathon in 4hours 22mins 51secs on Sunday.

Kevin travelled to the eternally romantic and gothic city to take part in the popular race along with thousands of other runners. Kevin has been raising money for Alzheimer Scotland and has, so far, topped £375. Huge well done to our Membership Secretary!

*Derek Blackford represented the club at the Umborne Ug race in East Devon on Saturday evening. He completed the 10k multi-terrain race in 1:01.25 coming 59th out of 91 competitors.

*Saturday will herald the arrival of 2015’s Dartmoor Discovery, the epic 32-mile race organised by this cluband the longest single lap road ultra in the country. The 240-limit race sold out in record time this year with entries opening on January 9 and the 'Race Full' sign being hung on the door by January 10.

The race starts in Princetown and passes through Dartmeet, Poundsgate, Newbridge, Ashburton, Buckland in the Moor, Widecombe in the Moor, and Postbridge before making its way back to Princetown where the finish line, accompanied by loud cheers and post race hospitality awaits.

Runners will experience everything Dartmoor can offer from stunning views, beautiful scenery, wild ponies and hills. And more hills. And perhaps a few more lumps that are like hills.

A huge team of people from inside and outside the club, under the guidance of Race Director Roger Hayes and Chief Marshal Keith Anderson, are involved making it a great spectacle as the tough and the brave race their way up and down Dartmoor’s roads encouraged on by friends, family and an abundance of friendly marshals.

Good luck to everyone taking part and big thanks to those helping out. While we can’t guarantee the weather we can assure you we will all be doing our best to make it an event for you, the runners, one to remember. And don’t forget, when it’s done, we get the party started…
